Day 114 - A Matter of Perspective
It started off as another hot day, filled with the now familiar late summer haze.
Thankfully I found some ice cold beers on the trail.
At least at one time they were.
I reached a paved road and had my own crossing guard to direct the flow of traffic.
Having safely reached the other side, I was again reminded of the importance of being present.
I made my way up the next mountain and soaked up the lofty views.
At the top, I saw a lone pine tree growing out of the rocks. It seemed to be holding onto something but I wasn't quite sure what.
I soon realized it was not alone and was, in fact, sharing the view from the top with a life long friend. They even seemed to be holding hands.
I found some water and met a very relaxed frog enjoying the good life.
I came across a well aged trail sign, barely legible yet still pointing the way.
It seemed to be training its eventual replacement.
I met one of the most strikingly beautiful flowers, delicately blowing in the breeze.
And with this breeze came a relief unexpected.
I crossed paths with the young and the old.
The firmly rooted and the fallen.
All part of the brilliant mystery and cycle of life.
Sometimes it hurts, and sometimes it's uncomfortable, but by golly what a treat it is to be alive.
